Dr. Shotaro Torii received the Willie Grabow Young Investigator Award from the International Water Association-Health Related Water Microbiology Specialist Groups.
This award recognizes an emerging researcher who is conducting outstanding research on microorganisms in the field of health-related water microbiology (HRWM), presented at the biennial international symposium of the HRWM Specialist Group of the International Water Association. Dr. Torii has conducted research on the occurrence of health-related microorganisms in urban water systems and on elucidating the mechanisms of microbial dynamics by exploring the interdisciplinary area between environmental engineering and molecular biology.
